Kim was born in Wellington, Aotearoa New Zealand and spent her early years on the wild southern coast at Makara.
She’s also been formed by over two decades of Australian life in cities, on the road and in the bush. She spends her non-writing time wrangling old cars, wiring diagrams and workshop manuals. Her first career as a gardener and horticulturalist lives on in her love of the natural world.
She’s the author of four previous novels: the NSW-set Cal Nyx series including The
Beautiful Dead, (shortlisted for Best First Novel in the Ngaio Marsh Awards), The
Quarry, (longlisted for the Ngaio Marsh Awards) and The Freezer. Her New Zealand-set
The Corrector, featuring reluctant hero Evin Hart, will be followed by The Adjustment in
2027. A fourth Cal Nyx mystery is also in progress.

Kim was a runner up in the 2023 Sisters in Crime USA Pride Awards, recognizing her as an Emerging LGBTQIA+ Crime Fiction Writer.
​​​Kim currently lives and writes in Aotearoa (New Zealand).
